800-8261885 and Pizza Hut

Today I was glancing at my online statement and came across a interesting charge of $12.00. I don't remember authorizing this, so I googled 800-8261885 and found this quote from another blog (http://skittles101373.blogspot.com/2009/04/pizza-hut-sucks.html):

If you have ordered a pizza from Pizza Hut online and paid by a credit card or debit card you might want to look for a extra charge. I always search my bank records for any extra things. Today I found: 04/03/09 03:13 AM $12.00
PRE-AUTHORIZATION DEBIT AT COMPLETE SAVINGS, 800-8261885, CT ON 040309 FROM CARD#:

Whoa! Yup, I ordered Pizza the Hut a couple of weeks ago, but I most certainly couldn't have entered this information which comes up in the form of a pop-up - you see I have pop-ups blocked!

I'll be calling this company tomorrow. Needless to say I'll also be calling Pizza Hut Corporate and explaining just why I will no longer be a customer, online or otherwise. There are plenty of fantastic local pizza chains that I have used in the delivery area of my house in Minneapolis. I'm sure they'd appreciate my business and yes, I'm willing to pay a few $$ more to get a good qualify 'za. :)

I'll keep you posted as to what transpires.

Hi ya. I read you reply to mind. You need to know that this company does google their own name. I got a very lengthy email from them saying I did it. Of course, why would I order a pizza with my online account and then put my cc # in? That is insane. I got the $12 back that day.

Good Luck! And thank you for the linky.

*chuckles* Yes, I did manage to get ahold of them today via phone and the woman argued with me. When I explained that I have pop-up blockers and there was no way I could have signed up she argued that I clicked on the link and filled out the form. She didn't seem very computer literate. She did backpedal very quickly and hurriedly explained that they weren't a Pizza Hut website. I got the feeling that there might be a marketing partnership here and if a lot of complaints were received by officials at Pizza Hut that partnership could be in jepardy.

Now all I have to wait for is the refund. :)

BB to you.

Beo

Hi,

Thanks for posting about this, it was helpful to me. I found this after googling the same 12.00 charge on our account. After calling Complete Savings, it seems that we were unknowingly signed up with them after my wife ordered a pair of shoes at ShoeTrader.com using a 10.00 off promotional coupon. It seems that by using the coupon, you get signed up with Complete Savings somehow.

Anyway, I called Complete Savings, and the rep that I spoke to gave me no trouble about refunding the 12.00, though I'll still need to check my statement to be sure that it shows up. Incidentally, my wife had already returned the shoes too.

Thanks again for posting about this, and keep alert for this garbage showing up in online offers elsewhere.

I just noticed this charge on my debit card of $12.00 I also called 1.800 number and had no problem cancelling the membership and getting a refund. they said it will take 3-5 days to credit, so we'll see. I will avoid ordering pizza's online from now on! I bet tons of people don't even notice this charge!!

Luckily i pay close attention to my monthly statements and saw this strange charge so i also googled the number and got this great site. I had ordered papa johns so thought it was because of them from the pizza hut comments. I called and found out that it was actually FTD.com which is flowers so just beware if they offer you money off then you may be signing up for this. The customer service quickly canceled and refunded the money. I feel sorry for ppl who don't look at their statements closely.

I am absolutely disgusted that a company would try to make money in such a deceitful way. The same thing happened to me and I have no idea how they obtained my bank information. Moreover, I can't believe a reputable company such as pizza hut would partner up with a company that has such deceitful business practices and allow the company to take advantage of their own customer base. I will never buy pizza at pizza hut again!

I found this reply and read through it. I too googled complete savings and figured out where this erroneous charge was coming from thanks to sites like this. I was one of those people that was charged for this and didn't even realize it (for 5 months). They really sneak that 12 dollars in there. I'll be calling during Business hours to give my 2cents

just had this same problem. I instantly googled the number and came here. I also contacted the company and the bank. She gave me no problems, then again after reading this blog i didn't give her a chance. My charge was through E.L.F or eyes lips face, an online makeup company. I now need to warn my sister in law who referred me to them in the first place. Thanks so much.

yeah i also had this come up on my card and i called the company to ask what it was and to get my money back. the customer service rep was extremely rude and they also said that they would only refund one of their fees even though they charged me twice, both times without my consent our knowledge. thanks for posting this otherwise i would not have figured out that this was in connection with online pizza hut orders and may have made the same mistake again. what i can't figure out is why pizza hut would give away my credit card information to these people

I just called up the 800 number and I pressed #3 at the first menu. I waited for about 1 minute and I got an operator where I told her I wanted to cancel the membership. She will need your last name, zip code, and email address. If the charge is still pending in your account, they will remove it.

This happened to me too! the lady was very rude when i called the number and they didnt even care and talked to me like i was stupid. i definately will be calling pizza hut and complaining because they are going to eventually loose a lot of business beacuse of this

I just notice this, after 5 months...
Thank you for your information.
I just called the number to cancel the membership. It can be done automatically.

Lame! I just noticed I have several of these charges on my account. Darn Pizza Hut! Why make something seem so convenient, and make it suck so hard?!

After googling the phone number I discovered this website.

Today I discovered a $12 charge on my mother's statement (I'm trying to keep her from getting over-drawn) and thought to myself "What the eff? The only things I paid for online were the phone, cable and Dell bills!"

I can only surmise that her card may have unknowingly been signed up for this when I ordered a video card via Tiger Direct (on behalf of my mother). Unless it is Dell, Comcast and/ or AT&T...

So I'm going to write down this information and have my mother make a phone call to this company.

This is a huge scam.

My wife purchased items from WWE.com and a window pops up that offers coupons or money off your bill. When you accept the coupons or discount you automatically sign yourself up for a monthly re-occurring charge on your credit card. I'm lucky that I follow my statements closely.

They are still doing this; just checked my monthly Visa statement, and there was a $12.00 charge. Will be calling the issuing bank re this.
Thanks for your site.

This is why I love google. I just noticed that charge on my account, and googled the number and ended up here.

Turns out that I signed up for a membership I don't remmember sigining up for. This is nonsense! I get billed $12.00 if I clicked on the $10.00 cupon? That doesn't even make sense.

I called them up and canceled the membership and asked for the $12.00 back.
I bet they make a lot of money getting $12.00 from people that don't even notice it.

Shame on Complete Savings. Don't trust them!

I have been having the same thing happen with the $12 charge. Phoned the number and found out that I 'signed' up thru TicketMaster. Now while I did buy tickets there is no way I would sign up for a re-occuring $`12 charge.

Also, as my wife is linked on my visa I was checking her statements and she had a charge from Reservation Rewards for $12 going back til March. We are still trying to get to the bottom of that one.

I just noticed this on my statement, so I Googled it and came to this site. Called the 1-800 number and the guy was very helpful, cancelled the fee right away. I guess it had something to do with ticketmaster? I don't remember signing up for anything, but so far it has only be $36, guess it could have been much worse.

I am in the process of disputing this charge with my bank, I sent an email to the company who said I did not have an account, yet they charged me $12.00. This stemmed from renewing my Son's online subscription with a fan website not even related to this savings club. It sounds like fraud to me and the Better Business Bureau will be contacted.

They scammed me of 12 a month as well. I just called the number, and after buying flowers online, they unknowingly were charging me $12 a month (I caught it after only 1 bill). They told me they'd refund me the money when I called the number, and stop future payments. we'll have to see. I'll update later.

I had a charge on my account today for $12.00. When I called the 800 number to find out why I was being charged, I was told it was from an offer I clicked on after ordering from Carol Wright Gifts! I was told I would have had to put my email in twice in order to join. I very carefully explained to the operator that I have NEVER opted in for ANY discount memberships online in my entire life. I do not believe in them and would never use them. I was told I would get a complete refund in 3-5 days. So, I am waiting...

I just noticed this after 3 months of a random $12 withdrawl. I assumed it was some online purchase the first time, but after realizing there is 3 months, I am pissed! I will be calling this number as you all have suggested, and I hope no problems. P

Hi, I just noticed that i was charged the same amount by the same company two months in a row, but i never ordered anything from Pizza hut.. i looked into it more and i figured that the only thing that i ordered online was from drugstore.com. so it must be also connected to them. by the way, they now have an automated way to cancel this membership immediately. Thanks to all of your comments.

Same thing happened to me......From what it look like it was something that updated you with Pizza Hut coupons for FREE no where did it say there would be a $12 charge a month......but thats how all scams work but I did not expect this from Pizza Hut......I sent some feedback to Pizza Hut on there website telling them that I would never order another pizza from them and that I have a very big family and a lot of friends.....Pizza Hut SUCKS (SCAM ARTIST)

I noticed this $12 charge last night and researched it, finding this site. Glad I did or I would have just cancelled it without trying for a refund. Unfortunately it had been going on for 7 months since I bought something on gamestop.com :/
I do look at my account at least once a week, but not carefully enough I guess!
Anyways I called and she cancelled it and said she can refund me 4 full payments. Now the 3-5 day wait for my partial refund. I will be emailing gamestop to complain.

I googled this too, i noticed the charges on my card, but thought it may have been from something else, until i realized i kept getting billed. i looked back and had been billed 6 times! They said it was from ordering something from petco and not reading the fine print on a coupon?

They tried to justify themselves by saying they sent emails to me every month with money saving coupons, which either went into my spam or i just never received them- which is what they are counting on, i'm sure. The lady said she could refund 4 months worth of charges, but i would have to fill out a lost card affidavit for the rest of my refund.

What an awful, dishonest company.
How could they even do that to people, i feel like this should be illegal.

My husbands work account was charged with this through Pizza Hut. Unfortulnately for us, it was $349 and some change.

I checked my online bank statement this morning (9/23/10) and noticed the same $12 charge to my account. I called the 800 number and was informed that I had signed up for this service in August. I told the representative that I had Googled the information provided on the statement and knew that I had fallen victim to their scam. She assured me that Complete Savings is not a scam company, even saying that she had seen what I was talking about on the news and they were not the same company. She said that the company would reimburse me for the charges and cancel my membership, which would stop future charges to my account. Once I got off of the phone with her I went back to my online bank statement and discovered that this has been going on since November of 2009 (10 months). I called the 800 number again and explained that I had never agreed to this membership and that I wanted my $120 returned. I was informed that as a customer service representative he could only refund 4 months, but that I could complete a form to get the other $72. He said that he would e-mail the form, which I still have not received. I have sent an e-mail requesting the form, so now all that I can do is wait.

Well I am stupid. I just looked at my statements and have been getting charged from them from the last 19 months. Apparently it first signed me up when I bought food from campusfoods.com 5/1/2010.

Anonymous said...

Same here. This is fraud. Seriously...this company is unbelievable. What do you think of an online boycott for all major companies who associate themselves with this outfit? Let's pay these brands back. So far I see Pizza Hut, FTD, WWE.com, and who else?

Anonymous said...

this happened to us too. From a tigerdirect computer purchase. I asked to cancel and was hung up on. Recalled and they said I'd cancelled earlier that day and they are refunding the $12. We will see. Funny thing is that the Tiger Direct was like 4 months ago and they start doing it now?

I just found out that they've been charging me $12 once a month since SEPTEMBER 2009! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! $480!?
