So I guess that I will just keep talking Bruce, knowing that all is good between our souls. There are no misunderstandings or questions - there just is. Souls now perfectly at peace with each other. So keep listening Bruce, and I'll keep talking. And if you want you can certainly stop by for a cold one. Tell mom I said hi.
Bruce Johanson
1948 - 2017
Johanson, Bruce
Bruce Johanson, 68 years old, died on Friday, May 5, 2017 while receiving supportive care from St. Michael's Hospital. Born November 14, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to O. Walter and Norma Johanson, Bruce lived most of his life in the Minneapolis area, primarily working in a glass products factory in Shakopee, Minnesota. He and his very young daughter, Kallista, moved to Stevens Point in 1995, joining his family who also moved to Stevens Point about that same time.
Alcoholics Anonymous has been a vitally important part of Bruce's life for many years. AA provided Bruce personal support, friendship, and a means to support others in their struggles. A favorite activity for Bruce over recent years was playing cards with friends and his daughter around a kitchen table… and plenty of coffee. Bruce's primary goal of the last couple decades was to bring his daughter, Kallista, through her growing-up years within a supportive community. Stevens Point, its institutions and many of its people, helped him to accomplish this life-goal.
Bruce is survived by his mother, Norma Johanson, daughter, Kallista Johanson, and brother, Ted (and Joan) Johanson, all living in Stevens Point. Bruce's nieces and nephews are Kirsti, Marna, Peder, and Luke. Cindy Woodward of Stevens Point provided companionship and care as Bruce's health declined.
A funeral service for Bruce, led by Rev. Clay Schmit, will occur at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9. A two-hour time of visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. will precede the service. In lieu of flowers people are invited to support the Trinity Lutheran Day Care and/or the Stevens Point YMCA; both were important supports to Bruce and Kallista.

So the summer is coming to a close although a stray 80 slips in on sunny days here and there. The trees are just peaking with color and the smell of the falling leave - oh that wonderful smell of fall is in the air. Still missing you old friend. I remember fall nights playing cards with the group on Blaisdale - Cindi, Jeff, myself, and you. 500 was the game. I really need to ferret out some folks who play. Miss that game and the long conversations we all shared when playing. I miss the way you'd slap the cards down when you knew you were going to run them - and the ranting that would go on when your partner (usually me) screwed up. But although you ranted your eyes were laughing and all was well.
I bid 10-no. Can we do it? Together?
Heh Bruce. Summer has past, along with fall. I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. Miss you old friend.
