Let the holidays begin!

For the first time in nearly 45 years I have a live tree sitting in my living room all gussied up for the holidays.

Now I tend to start my celebrations of the holidays with Solstice, my spiritual holiday and the longest night of the year.  Then I move on to Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and end on 12th Night which falls January 6.  Decorations do stay up until the end of January.

This year I had to give a lot of thought as to what I would need a free balsam fir tree for.  Holidays came immediately to mind.  And when it's done I plan to move it to my side yard and put up many seed bells and suet cages.  :)  Feed the little animals.  Then - in spring - I'll remove part of the base to use as the yule log next year and donate the rest to our community garden for a spring bonfire.
